Welcome to my site...
1/1/2008
I think I may have taken procrastination to a whole new level.
I've been meaning to put up this site for the past five years! This site design is actually the sixth incarnation of my online portfolio.
Previous versions were started and quickly abandoned in favour of less taxing activities like struggling through a Delueze essay or scrubbing off the
mildew deposits between the tiles in my shower.
Actually, putting together this site wasn't nearly that bad. In fact, it was kind of fun. Going through these old photos brings me back to the time
and place that I released the shutter.
I'll refrain from waxing poetic on the nature and allure of photography. If you want to read that kind of thing, I highly suggest
"Camera Lucida" by Roland Barthes. It's a beautifully
written book that anyone who is interested in images (still and moving) should read. (Incidentally, it inspired
this.)

David Han makes images...
and apparently refers to himself in the third person.
But I do make images... among other things. Actually, I make a pretty damn good pad thai, if I say so myself. And once, when I was six or seven, I
made a tree-fort with my friend Jeff. It was made of some abandoned skids we found in the forest behind Jeff's house.
But aside from thai food and incredibly unsafe, make-shift shelters, I mostly make images.
I've been taking photos with my father's old Nikon 35mm SLR for the last ten years. It's big. It's heavy. It only has one 55mm lens. And it makes
a fantastically mechanical sound every time I take a picture. Sure I've thought about getting a digital camera. They're great and probably produce
better images, but I love my camera and the photos it takes.
I also make moving images. Well, they may or may not move, but they all have an element of duration. I've been
making moving images ever since I learned that pressing the red button makes the video
camera go. I'm currently pursuing my MFA in film production at York University in Toronto, Canada.
On top of the still images and the moving images, I'm also currently employed as a graphic designer. Mostly, I make websites, but I have designed
the occasional logo or business card.
So, there you have it. I make images. Explore those images on this site. They're nice and friendly and mostly enjoy being looked at. Enjoy.
